Hughston Health Alert
Since 1989, The Hughston Foundation has published the Hughston Health Alert, a quarterly, patient-information newsletter emphasizing orthopaedic and sport-related illness and injury and general health and fitness. The easy-to-read, heavily illustrated articles explain the causes, symptoms, and treatment of specific conditions and are written by Hughston physicians and allied health-care professionals. The newsletter is distributed to patients, coaches, students, and shipped to the YMCA and fitness centers in the surrounding areas. The Hughston Health Alert can be visited online via The Hughston Clinic’s web site at www.hughston.com/hha. Web surfers can read articles online or order copies by e-mailing the editor.

The Hughston Health Alert has recently been recognized by APEX: Awards for Publication Excellence. The APEX Awards is an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff, and business and nonprofit communicators. The newsletter was awarded the Grand Award for Newsletters (overall) and the Grand Award in Design and Illustration. Judges said the Hughston Health Alert is "a superb newsletter—beautifully rendered, exceptionally clear illustrations, clean layout and type, with informed, comfortable writing."
