Evaluations include a medical history, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, dental screening, vision screening, general medical screening, musculoskeletal exam, orthopaedic testing, body composition, and an optional battery of fitness tests.

After completing the screening, each athlete must be given clearance by a primary care physician who determines whether the student is allowed to participate in athletics. Some of the conditions that are found as a result of the screenings are heart murmurs, hypertension, tachycardia, asthma, orthopaedic problems, and genitourinary problems. The athlete is encouraged to follow-up with a specialized physician if any of the conditions mentioned above are found during the evaluation process.

More than 100 volunteers assist with each screening session. Volunteers include physicians, dentists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, physician assistants, nurses, allied health personnel, students, coaches, and members of various civic organizations.
